A lifelong servant and community advocate, Buddy’s roots in North Knox County run deep. A proud member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, he brings warmth and joy to the congregation every Sunday as a guitarist in the church band. In 2023, he married his wife Amy, and together they enjoy spending their free time on the waters of beautiful Norris Lake.

Buddy is a graduate of the University of Tennessee and has honored his country and community through a distinguished career. He is retired from both the United States Navy & Naval Reserves and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, bringing unmatched experience, discipline, and leadership to the table.

His journey in public service began more than 30 years ago, working behind the scene placing signs for county, state, and federal candidates. Over the years, Buddy rose to become a key voice in local politics, serving three terms as Chair of the Knox County Republican Party. He has also led the Powell Republican Club as President and served in leadership roles within the Halls Republican Club, demonstrating unwavering commitment to the community he loves.

Now, Buddy is ready to take that dedication to the next level.

He is committed to being available, present, and prepared for the citizens of Halls, Powell, and Heiskell—listening to their concerns and standing up for their needs onCounty Commission.

Buddy believes in responsible development that strengthens—not strains—our community. As Knox County continues to grow, he understands that infrastructure must grow with it. As a long-term resident of North Knox County, Buddy is passionate about ensuring:

Roads are repaired and maintained

Schools receive the funding they need

Communities remain safe through strong support for law enforcement

Small businesses have the opportunity to thrive. Buddy Burkhardt is ready to work hard, lead with integrity, and fight for the future of District 7.
