2014 Knox County Commission Races!

In 2014, there are only four of the eleven commission seats up for election.

The #10 seat (one of the at large seats) is currently occupied by Mike Hammond. He has said that he will not be a candidate for commission and the thought among nearly everyone is that he may challenge Joy McCroskey, the Criminal Court Clerk. A professional business approach to the Criminal Court Clerk is desperately needed right now.

Radio guy Bob Thomas has already announced for the #10 seat.

The #11 seat (the other at large seat) is currently held by Ed Shouse. It was believed that he would be a challenger to Craig Leuthold, the interim Trustee. Now there has been some doubt that he will challenge Leuthold. If he stays and runs for reelection. He could be facing Former Commissioner and Conservative Michelle Carringer, who has announced for a countywide seat.

The Seventh District seat currently held by Commission Vice Chairman R Larry Smith is on the ballot. Smith is term limited and is considering other options for 2014. Powell Community Activist Bo Bennett has already announced and is campaigning. There are a couple individuals that have been rumored to be considering a 2014 run. Former County Commissioner Scott Moore and Former Knox County Clerk employee Rodney Lane.

The Third District seat currently held by Commissioner and Former Chairman Tony Norman. Norman is term limited and appears to be enjoying the prospect of becoming a Former Elected Official on August 31, 2014 at 11:59:59 p.m. The only name that has surfaced is Former City School Board Member, Former City Councilman, Former County Commissioner, Former Republican State Executive Committeeman, Former two time Knoxville Mayoral candidate Ivan Harmon. I have heard that Former State Representative candidate Bo Pierce name mentioned. However, I am unaware if he lives in the Third District.
