Reported On

From Knox County Sheriffs Office Spokesperson Kimberly Glenn,

Knox County Sheriff’s Office David Shift Patrol Units were pursuing a vehicle overnight in the Merchants/Tillery Road area.  The suspect vehicle was involved in a single car accident.  The driver of the vehicle was transported to the hospital where he later died.  The incident is still under investigation.  The name of the deceased suspect is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The report will be released once it has been approved.  Glenn does not have any details as to why the pursuit initiated at this time.  Glenn will release information as the investigation continues.
Information from an unconfirmed source indicate it began somewhere near downtown over a tail light. When I have the report, I will report it.
