Members of the Tennessee State House Black Caucus held a Town Hall at the Beck Cultural Exchange Center in East Knoxville as part of the weekends Juneteenth festivities.

i counted over 100 people early into the almost 2 hour event. Some left early, some came in later. I would estimate 120 total.

Knox County’s own Rep. Sam McKenzie (also Chairman of the Black Caucus) was the host and lead man of the Town Hall. Chattanooga Rep. Yusuf Hakeem, Shelby County Rep. G.A. Hardaway, Sr., Vice Chair of the Caucus Rep. Jesse Chism and Rep. Joe Towns were all participants. Also, in attendance was Knox County’s Rep. Gloria Johnson.

Former Rep. Rick Staples was recognized and honored for his four years of service as also former Rep. Joe Armstrong was in attendance.

TN State Senator Becky Massey was in attendance and assisted in presenting a check for a donation to the Beck Center from the sfate.

Also in attendance were City of Knoxville candidates Municipal Judge John Rosson, Jr., Mayoral candidates Constance Every and Jeff Talman, City Council candidates Matthew Best and Cameron Brooks.

Knox County Commissioner Dr. Dasha Lundy and former Commissioners Diane Jordan and Evelyn Gill were in attendance. As was Knox County School Board Member Dr. John Butler of Knox County’s First District. Knoxville City Council member Seema Sigh was also in attendance.

Domonica Bryan a 2024 candidate for TN State House District 14 was warmly received by those in attendance.
