Who’s Gonna Fill His Shoes and Robe? • Court of Criminal Appeals Judge Steven Sword’s Knox County Bench

Reported By

Reported On

Well Knox County has become the minor league for State of Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals and Court of Appeals for that matter.

The most recent was our Criminal Court Judge Steven Sword being appointed by Governor Bill Lee to Court of Criminal Appeals, before that it was Judge Kyle Hixson to the Court of Criminal Appeals.

Before that it was Circuit Court Judge Kristi Davis being appointed to Tennessee Court of Appeals. Since being appointed to the Court of Appeals Judge Davis has been a finalist twice for Tennessee Supreme Court.

Yesterday May 14 was the deadline to apply for the Knox County Criminal Court Judge position with the Tennessee Association of Courts.

On June 17, the Trial Court Vacancy Commission will interview the applicants in an open public process at the City County Building in Knoxville.

(I am considering taking a day off from my day job and watching it in person, normally I watch the video rerun)

The applicants are

Emily F. Abbott (Assistant District Attorney, Seventh Judicial District of the State of Tennessee Anderson County)

J. Franklin Ammons (Assistant District Attorney of the Sixth Judicial District State of Tennessee Knox County)

Heather N. Ens   (Assistant District Attorney of the Sixth Judicial District State of Tennessee Knox County)

Cashauna C. Lattimore (Assistant Public Defender of the Fourth Judicial District State of Tennessee, Jefferson County)

Ashley D. McDermott (Assistant District Attorney of the Sixth Judicial District State of Tennessee Knox County)

Wesley D. Stone (Attorney, former two time finalist and a former political candidate for Judge)

G. Nicholas Wallace (Assistant Federal Defender Attorney of East Tennessee)

Mary L. Ward (Attorney and former candidate for Knoxville Municipal Judge)

I will continually keep you updated.
