On Thursday May 22, the Center City Conservatives Republican Club had First Vice President of the club David Williams present the History of Pond Gap. Pond Gap is along Sutherland Avenue (east to west between Marble City and Bearden) (from Lonas Rd to the North to Kingston Pike to the South)

Pond Gap was home for the Ringling Circus (before Knoxville Civic Coliseum and Auditorium was built) Pond Gap was home to Knoxville Municipal Airport before McGhee Tyson, also learn about the name of McGhee Tyson. Pond Gap was also home to the first mixed race baseball games. Watch the History here.

David still lives in Pond Gap, he is fourth generation of Pond Gap and the “Mayor” of Pond Gap.

The Center City Conservatives Republican Club has adopted Hollywood Rd from Sutherland Ave to Lonas in “Cleaning Up Hollywood” We are doing three to four litter clean ups every year. Our first clean up was in May, our next one is July 12.
