Sean Murphy: “His Majesty,” the “Undesirable Carpetbagger,” and Other Self-Appointed Titles
Sean Murphy has been around town for a minute, collecting nicknames like merit badges — some given, some self-styled. Whether it’s “His Majesty” or “Undesirable Carpetbagger,” he wears them all with theatrical flair.
He’s now blogging on Substack and talking into the mic with his podcast. In his latest episode, here, he references a Facebook parody account of yours truly — yes, #TheMegaBullhornofTruth. And in case anyone’s wondering: Do I care? Not one bit. If people want to spend their time imitating me, that’s not an insult — that’s free marketing. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, after all.
Now, let’s connect the dots. That parody page? Its writing style is eerily similar to another fake page — remember the phony “Three Rivers Republican” Facebook page that vanished without a trace? Funny how one disappears and another pops up. Conservative Republicans know how to add: 1 + 1 = 2.
Murphy’s podcast is worth a listen — if only to understand the mindset. But beware of anyone — person or group — who demands 100% loyalty, 100% of the time. That’s not leadership. That’s cult behavior. History gave us a tragic example in Jonestown, Guyana, on November 18, 1978 — blind loyalty led to the assassination of Congressman Leo Ryan and the mass suicide of over 900 people. Extremism kills.
Let’s bring it back to common sense. As Ronald Reagan said,
“The person who agrees with you 80 percent of the time is a friend — not a 20 percent traitor.”
That’s what absolutists forget. They demand purity, and in doing so, they destroy the very movement they claim to protect.
Sean Murphy and I agree on that!
