The race for the 2026 Knox County Primaries officially kicks off on September 1, 2025, with campaigns heating up for the May 5, 2026 election. Early voting is set for April 15–30, 2026. Leading the charge are the Republican campaigns for Knox County Sheriff, and we’re excited to spotlight the first candidate stepping into the ring.
Meet Brent Gibson
Brent Gibson, a retired Assistant Chief of the Knox County Sheriff’s Office and former SWAT Commander, is throwing his hat in the ring. With a 25-year career in law enforcement starting in 1992, Gibson brings a wealth of experience to the table. He resides in the vibrant North Knox County community of Gibbs with his wife, Krystal, and thier two daughters, who are actively involved in the local community.
