Yesterday, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and First Lady Maria Lee welcomed the Christmas season during the annual Christmas at the Capitol and announced “Light of the World” tours of the Tennessee Residence.

“Maria and I look forward to continuing the Tennessee tradition of generosity throughout the holiday season,” said Gov. Lee. “We invite Tennesseans to join us in giving back as we reflect on our many blessings and prepare our hearts to receive the ultimate gift, the birth of Christ.”

The Christmas at the Capitol celebration featured the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony, the King’s Academy Choir, the 129th Army Band, and a visit from Santa.

The exterior Christmas tree, a Norway spruce, was donated by Tex and Cori Cook of Greenbrier, Tennessee. The interior trees were donated by Ward Grove Christmas Tree Farm in Beech Bluff, Tennessee and Big Sky Farm in Portland, Tennessee.

The Tennessee Residence will be open for Christmas tours on Friday, December 5 – Sunday, December 7 and Friday, December 12 – Sunday, December 14. The décor theme, “Light of the World,” welcomes all who enter to behold the glory of the Son of God and reflect His warm, sacred light. Rooted in Tennessee’s deep spiritual heritage and Southern hospitality, this theme weaves together symbols of nature and Scripture, tradition, and truth. Every detail points to the majesty of Jesus – both humble and holy, both Savior and King.

All tours are self-guided and free to the public. Reservations are required and may be made here.

Tour guests are invited to support featured Tennessee nonprofits this holiday season by donating requested items. The donation list may be found here.
