This wide-ranging discussion offers listeners valuable insights into local government leadership, the challenges facing Knox County, and what’s ahead for our community.
Who is Gina Oster?
Gina Oster was elected in August 2022 to represent District 3, which includes key West Knoxville neighborhoods such as Cedar Bluff, Ball Camp, Bearden, and Amherst. A lifelong Knox County resident, she graduated from Karns High School and has been a dedicated community servant for decades.
Before joining the Commission, Oster served as Legislative Chair, Vice President, and President of the Cedar Bluff Schools PTSA. She has also contributed her time to the County Ethics Committee, the County Tax Equalization Board, and the Knox County Sheriff’s Merit System Council. A licensed realtor since 2005, she brings a strong background in community advocacy, education, and practical local knowledge to her role.
In September 2024, her colleagues unanimously selected her to serve as Chair of the Knox County Commission — making her the third woman to hold the position. She currently serves on several important bodies, including the Beer Board, Joint Education Committee, Finance Committee, Insolvency Board (which she chairs), the Three Ridges Golf Course Advisory Board, and Legislative Affairs.
