TN State Representative Dave Wright (R-19) brought a mix of experience, humor, and legislative insight to the recent meeting of the Three Rivers Republican Club, giving attendees an update on issues facing Tennessee and Knox County Republicans.

The Three Rivers Republican Club, which meets monthly in East Knox County, continues to serve as one of the more active grassroots Republican organizations in the region.   During his remarks, Wright discussed legislative priorities, local government concerns, and the ongoing political climate in Nashville.

Wright represents Tennessee House District 19, covering much of northeastern Knox County, including Gibbs, Corryton, and surrounding communities. Before serving in the Tennessee House, he spent a decade on the Knox County Commission, including terms as chairman and vice-chairman.   A retired AT&T employee and U.S. Army veteran, Wright has built a reputation as a steady voice for conservative voters in the district.

During the meeting, Wright reflected on the challenges of governing in a rapidly growing state while balancing conservative priorities with infrastructure, transportation, and local government needs. Attendees also heard discussion surrounding election integrity, Republican Party unity, and the importance of grassroots involvement heading into the 2026 election cycle.

As vice-chair of the House Local Government Committee, Wright remains closely involved in legislation affecting counties and municipalities across Tennessee.   His long background in Knox County government was evident throughout the discussion, especially when addressing development, roads, and state-local partnerships.

One thing that stood out during the evening was Wright’s conversational style. Rather than delivering a formal speech, the longtime public servant engaged directly with club members, answering questions and sharing stories from both Nashville and Knox County politics. That approach connected well with the grassroots audience gathered at the meeting.

The Three Rivers Republican Club continues to attract elected officials and candidates from across East Tennessee, giving local Republicans an opportunity to hear directly from policymakers and community leaders. Meetings are typically held at Marbledale Baptist Church in Knoxville.

For Republicans in East Tennessee, evenings like this serve as a reminder that politics is still very much local — centered around relationships, community involvement, and conversations between elected officials and the people they represent.
