This story from Jamie Satterfield over at the Big Metal Shed on the Hill is interesting. Joy McCroskey, Knox County Criminal Court Clerk had mass mailed drivers license to be revoked to the TN Department of Safety. Sadly as phone calls were being made by these people. It wasn’t McCroskey’s office that alerted Knox County Law Director Richard “Bud” Armstrong but Knox County’s Information Technology guy Dick Moran. Moran apparently found out through a potential victim of this oversight.

Sources have informed me that the collection of criminal court fees in Knox County are one of the lowest. McCroskey is up for reelection next year. She has already generated at least one potential opponent. It can be assumed that collection tactics will accelerate in the criminal court clerks office. Thankfully, Moran alerted Armstrong and this one was nipped in the bud.

It just seems nothing can be accomplished correctly at the Deathstar aka City County Building. With the recent news of the Trustee’s office, the swinging door and back room shenanigans at the Property Assessor offices and now the drivers license revocations of the Knox County Criminal Court Clerks office. I can assure you that there are some good offices with dedicated employees that do NOT make doofus decisions.
