Cas Said, “As Long As They Spell Your Name Right” Mrs. Ackermann May Want To Consider Other Newsworthy Items

This week Cathy Ackermann of Ackermann PR made the news again with a lawsuit against a former employee. This time it is Rick Laney. Laney apparently left and has stayed in the same business. I have been following his work with TN Sports Radio and in particular the Erik Ainge Show. He is brilliant at what he does.

Last time, about two years ago it was Mike Cohen she sued because he formed Cohen Communications and stayed in the business.

Ackermann should take it as a compliment that these two guys worked there and went out on their own. As an Entrepreneur she should want to have them go out on their own.

In addition to Laney and Cohen, Cindy McConkey left and went to Scrips. Katie Granju left for Scripps Interactive. Shane Rhyne left and Robert Cathy left.

Why the attention of a lawsuit on a non compete that is hardly enforceable? While a lawsuit makes the news, it seems to me that it would help the ones that left and started out on their own to gain some free earned media.

So, while Cas was right, “don’t matter what they say, as long as they spell your name right.” In this case, I think Cas would say that ain’t good for ya.
