Multiple individuals have contacted me to inform me that Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett is robo-calling for Jamie Rowe. Rowe is challenging Tracie Sanger and Charlotte Dorsey for the remaining of the term of Former Knox County School Board Member Indya Kincannon who resigned in August. More and more people keep asking what has caused this personal hate by Burchett toward Knox County School Superintendent Dr. James P. McIntyre, Jr.

It was reported to me that Mayor Burchett in the robo call message said that the Knox County School Board would raise taxes. The School Board does not have the authority to raise taxes. They can request of the County Mayor and County Commission for a yearly budget figure. It is up to the recommendation of the County Mayor and the vote of the County Commission. Only the County Commission can set the tax rate either upward or downward.
