Word is traveling around that Republican State Representative Mary Littleton from Cheatham County and part of Dickson County has joined the race to be TN Republican Party Chairman. My State Representative Ryan Haynes was the first and only candidate until Littleton joined this week.

Haynes has indicated he will step down from his legislative position if the Republican State Executive Committee selects him. First of all, I am NOT whole heartedly in favor of losing my State Representative. Primarily because of the prospect of some jackleg or wingnut becoming Haynes replacement.

Has Littleton been forced to decide that she too will forfeit her legislative position? Is there a double standard for male candidates, but not for a female candidate? Is there a double standard because Haynes is younger than his probable opponent?
