On Monday at the East Knoxville Community Meeting Property Assessor Candidates Andrew Graybeal, John Weaver and John Whitehead were the featured speakers. We posted this story and this one as well. One item we have not reported is that Weaver announced that the current regime of the Knox County Property Assessor’s Office on Friday received an award from the TN Association of Assessing Officers  for their efforts on improving technology.

Well, hoop, hoop, hooray!

Now, a little dose of reality. This award is from the same group that in 2013 awarded Roane County Property Assessor David Morgan as TN Assessor of the Year and in 2015 the State of Tennessee has stripped Morgan of the responsibility of conducting Roane County’s re-assessment of the counties property values. Now, the state will conduct the review of the county appraisals/ tax assessments.

So, if  Ballard and Weaver really want to celebrate that award. Have at it.
