I just talked to Knox County Seventh District School Board Member Patti Bounds and she is running for TN State Representative District 16. A position that has been held by Rep. Bill Dunn since 1994.

Bounds is likely to run a campaign that refers to length of service, time for a change, obviously with Bounds being a former public school teacher and school board member the education debate should Dunn seek re-election will be interesting.

Dunn the Sponsor of Gov. Bill Lee’a Voucher bill that passed in controversial fashion last session with the vote being held open for 45 minutes on the house floor and Knox County Representative Jason Zachary casting the flip vote may be one of the topics in the campaign.

Bounds has just turned the engine on this campaign. Now, that she has a Treasurer and a bank account. She will begin raising money to purchase signs, material and all the things that come with a campaign including advertisements (like on a high traffic website) anyway, let the campaign season begin.

The Republican Primary is not until Thursday August 6, 2020.
