In this 191st edition of the Brian Hornback Experience, I bring you inside a recent Knox County Republican Women meeting, where the spotlight was on the featured Speaker Knox County Commission Chair Gina Oster, representing the Third District.

Gina Oster’s Tenure and Achievements

Commissioner Gina Oster took center stage, outlining her dedicated work over the past three years serving her district. With a focus on community needs and local governance, Oster shared her accomplishments, emphasizing her commitment to the people of Knox County. As she gears up for re-election in the May 5, 2026 Republican Primary (with early voting from April 15–30), Oster’s record was a key point of discussion.

Heated Moments and Tough Questions

The meeting wasn’t without its share of tension. Of the roughly 36 attendees, three individuals challenged Oster on specific votes related to the Commission’s organization, including the election of the Chair and committee assignments. Oster faced the criticism head-on, defending her decisions with clarity and confidence. Notably, she pointed out that one of her questioners had previously supported her 2022 vote for Commissioner Courtney Durrett as Chair.

That particular reorganization vote saw Oster joined by Democrat Commissioners Durrett and Dr. Dasha Lundy, alongside fellow Republicans Terry Hill, Rhonda Lee, Kim Frazier, and Richie Beeler. It’s worth noting that Rhonda Lee will also face re-election in 2026, while Richie Beeler is running for Knox County Clerk in the same May 5, 2026 primary.
