This mornings copy of the Big Metal Shed on the Hill has a front page headline that TN Second District Congressman John J. Duncan, Jr. has opined support for elected School Superintendents. Now befor you start railing about the Congressman over stepping his bounds into state and local issues. Read the whole story here first. He was asked by Claiborne County Mayor Jack Daniels (I really like his name, btw) to render an opinion.

While the story has an interesting revelation. It seems that State Rep. Harry Brooks of Knox County has crafted an amendment that will exclude Knox County. Brooks who represents North East and East Knox County is going against the wishes of his constituents.

The article said in part “Niceley said House Education Committee Chairman Harry Brooks, R-Knoxville, has drafted an amendment that would further limit the elected superintendents option to school systems that fail to meet their “annual measurable objectives,” which involves student test scores and other standards. He said that move would apparently exclude Knox County, but still permit a vote in some counties Niceley represents.”

Who has gotten to Brooks and What has he been promised to him to exclude his constituents?
