Republican Michael Covington will launch his campaign for County Commission District 1 this Tuesday July 7, 2015 from 5-8 p.m. at Calhoun’s on the River located at 400 Neyland Drive in Downtown Knoxville.

District One is currently represented by Democrat Sam McKenzie, McKenzie has indicated that he will not run for election. There are three Democrats ready to challenge each other and any others in a primary to take on Covington on in the General election. Democrat Rick Staples, Evelyn Gill and Tony Brown are all expected to run in the Democrat primary.
