Knox County Trustee Ed Shouse at yesterday’s Knox County Commission Finance Committee meeting, announced that the property formerly known as East Towne Mall / Knoxville Center Mall came into his office on March 15, 2021.

They paid Knox County $228,000 which included $23,000 in penalties and interest. They went to the City of Knoxville tax office and paid $235,000.00 and the property is current.

Obviously, the property recently sold to Amazon or an entity for Amazon and is being torn down for an Amazon Distribution Center. So with the closing on the property the previous owner had the cash to pay the taxes.
