On Tuesday night July 5, 2022, I did this podcast (audio and video) it was a follow-up to this June 21, 2022 blog story. It was about the accused and admitted assault by Democrat candidate Dylan Kelley. Granted Kelley was innocent until proven guilty. However, the Daily Times (Maryville, TN), WBIR, WVLT and WATE and Knox News Sentinel had been silent. Until today, when Kelley was suppose to be in court and he apparently plead guilty.

However, NOW this from the Daily Times has this from Blount County Democrat Party and TN Democrat Party.

The Blount County Democratic Party issued a press release Thursday formally disavowing the candidacy of Dylan Kelley, who filed to run for Tennessee State House District 8 against incumbent Republican Jerome Moon. The statewide party has also disavowed him.

Kelley was arrested in June on charges of domestic violence and interference with 911 calls. He has pleaded guilty to the charges.

Election rules don’t allow for Kelley’s removal from the Aug. 4 ballot. However, the Blount County and Tennessee Democratic Parties will not “support his candidacy nor promote it.”

In a press statement repudiating Kelley, Nathan Higdon, chair of the Blount County Democratic Party, said that he wanted voters to make as informed a choice as possible.
