Flag Day Clash: Protests Meet Patriotism on Trump’s Birthday

On June 14, 2025, Flag Day coincided with President Donald J. Trump’s birthday, sparking a wave of protests across the U.S. by progressive, liberal, and socialist groups. In Knoxville, Tennessee, a notable “carnival-style” event took place at Knox County’s John Tarleton Park, organized by Indivisible TN. Curious about the logistics behind this gathering, I dug into the details through an Open Records Request, and here’s what I found.

The event, held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., was meticulously planned. Indivisible TN submitted their application and payment on May 19, 2025, securing the park for an estimated 1,500 attendees, with a requirement for 100 parking spaces. Notably, no one under 21 was permitted, per the application. Security was tight, with two EMTs and four Knox County Sheriff’s Officers on site. A bounce house was initially planned but scrapped due to steep insurance requirements from Knox County, though the group met all other insurance obligations for the event.

Despite Knox County’s Republican-leaning leadership, including a mayor and elected officials who largely support Trump, the permitting process was handled with professionalism and transparency. Every document I reviewed showed the event was managed appropriately, reflecting the county’s commitment to fair governance.

This clash of ideals on a symbolic day—Flag Day and Trump’s birthday—offered a fascinating glimpse into the balance of free expression and civic order in a politically charged climate. Stay tuned to The Mega Bullhorn of Truth for more insights into the stories shaping our communities.
