I attended a Sertoma Club meeting on Tuesday, where community activists, J. Finbarr Saunders, announced his candidacy for County Commission 4-A. He of the Westwood community, stated that his primary reason for entering the race is because of, “the diminishing involvement in civic affairs by theaverage citizen.”

His platform is: Back to basics; accessibility; offers himslef as a alternative; willlisten; and knows how to reach consensus.Some might find most interesting is that during a Q and A, he was askedwhether he will run as a Democrat or a Republican?He answered, “I will probably run as a Democrat.” He elaborated that hesupported people in the Republican primary. He mentioned Ed Shouse as one,and he left the impression to me that the Democrat Primary was the ‘pathof least resistance’ and gave him the better chance of winning.
