Is Burchett Looking at Congress Now?

On September 30, 2013 County Mayor Tim Burchett released a statement on the government furlough of non essential employees. It was kind of odd and unusual as local officials rarely regularly opine on Congressional action. Just as the government is divided between Executive (President), Legislative (Congress) and Judicial (Supreme Court). The type of governments are Federal, State and Local.

Burchett toyed with the idea of challenging Sen. Alexander. However, he did not participate in the vetting process that was set up by the Beat Lamar grass root organization.

So I guess the question could be is Burchett looking to move from a statewide campaign to a district campaign? Surely, he wouldn’t challenge Congressman John J. Duncan, Jr. Would he?
