Yesterday, I examined the personnel files of Sheriff Candidates Bobby Waggoner and Sam Hammett. There will be a story coming out (hopefully this afternoon about Hammett’s tenure at KCSO) Of course there wasn’t anything in Waggoner’s file, primarily I presume because he was administratively appointed to his position at KCSO because he had never been a policeman. That was a quote from Sheriff Tim Hutchison (who hired Waggoner) from this earlier post.

I had to laugh when I read Waggoner’s retirement letter to Sheriff Jones. It reads, if I can ever be of assistance to you or the citizens of Knox County please do not hesitate to call upon me.

I have every confidence that Jones has not called upon him and the letter from Waggoner to Jones, left it up to Jones to contact Waggoner. So, why is Waggoner running?
