This morning, on WBIR‘s Inside Tennessee the two Republican candidates for Knox County Clerk appeared. There appeared to be some confusion when candidate Sherry Witt had said that Roger Kane was seeking his fourth position. Kane countered that he had run for Trustee then State Representative for three elections. He didn’t understand the math. So, I began digging, here is what I found.

On February 5, 2008 Roger finished third with a little more than 10% of the Knox County Republican vote for Trustee. Then on both February 12 and 13, 2008 the Knox News Sentinel identified him as one of two persons seeking the appointment to the Knox County Commission Sixth District. Here on February 20, 2008 BrianHornback.Com (then Shock and Awe aka Brian’s Blog) reported of the Knox County Commission selection of Robert Rountree. Then in 2012, Roger was elected to the State Representative position, and has been reelected twice. He is now a candidate for Knox County Clerk. So, this is the fourth position that he has sought in 10 years and would “technically” be his sixth election, five on a ballot of the voters and one ballot of the County Commission.
