Commissioner Mark Harmon nominated Maurice Freed. Commissioner John Mills nominated Jack Huddleston. Knox County citizen Rodney McCroskey nominated Kay Frazier. Frazier in May of 2006 ran against Commissioner Mills and Commissioner Mills was re-elected. Knox County citizen Bill Young nominated Tom Pressley.
The voting ended with Huddleston 17 Freed 1 Frazier 0 and Pressley 0.
After the vote was announced a citizen got up and as he walked out said “Somebody got rich, here today.”
