LWVKKC hosting candidate forums

To better prepare voters for the primary election on May 5, the League of Women Voters of Knoxville and Knox County is hosting candidate events in March and April. These forums and meet and greets provide opportunities for voters to hear directly from the candidates before casting their votes. 

The following events are scheduled, and all candidates have been invited to participate. 

• Tuesday, March 17, 6-7:30 p.m. Knox County Finance Offices Candidate Meet and Greet​ at Fountain City Presbyterian Church, 500 Hotel Road, Knoxville, Tennessee, 37918

• Thursday, March 19, 6-7:30 p.m., Knox County Board of Education Candidate Meet and Greet at Fulton High School Cafeteria, 2509 North Broadway, Knoxville, Tennessee, 37917

• Tuesday, March 31, 6-7:30 p.m., Knox County Mayoral Candidate Forum at Public Works Service Center, 3131 Morris Avenue, Knoxville, Tennessee 37909

• Tuesday, April 14 6-7:30 p.m., Knox County Sheriff and Judicial Candidate Meet and Greet at Fountain City Presbyterian Church, 500 Hotel Road, Knoxville, Tennessee, 37918

The following organizations are partnering with LWVKKC to provide these forums for the public: National Coalition of 100 Black WomenGreater Knoxville Chapter, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Knox County Education Association, Knox NAACP, Tennessee Campus Democracy Network, Knoxville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and the American Muslim Advisory Council

Early voting begins Wednesday, April 15, and ends Thursday, April 30Election day is Tuesday, May 5. Voters may visit VOTE411.org to find additional information about the candidates. All candidates have received the questionnaires twice, and LWVKKC sincerely appreciates those candidates who have responded. All candidates are urged to complete these questionnaires to inform voters of their perspectives on current issues. 

The League of Women Voters of Knoxville/Knox County is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that encourages informed and active participation in government and works to increase understanding of major public policy issues. Candidate forums sponsored by the League honor the League’s longstanding nonpartisan practices to ensure trust, respect, and fairness to all who participate. We use a standard set of guidelines for candidates, moderators, volunteers, and the audience.
