Nepotism at the Top of Knox County Government

A source has directed me to the Knox News Sentinel employee look up of Knox County employees and the step son of Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett is listed as an employee in the Engineering and Public Works Department.

A review of Facebook identifies the step son as having been employed since August 1, 2015. This is new precedent for the County Mayor’s office. If Mike Ragsdale, Tommy Schumpert or Dwight Kessel had close family on the county payroll, I am confident that it would have been front page news.

But tucking the adult step son out at Engineering and Public Works under the County Mayor’s appointed Director Dwight Van de Vate generates little to no attention.
