President George W. Bush announced this morning that his nominee for the Supreme Court John Roberts is now the nominee for the position of Chief Justice. Chief Justice William Rehnquist died around 4:00 am Sunday Morning creating the Chief Justice vacancy.

Judge John Roberts was nominated for the announced vacancy for Supreme Justice Associate Sandra Day o’Connor.

I personally would have preferred Anthony Scalia as Chief Justice, however, I support the President’s selection.
