School Board to County Commission…..May We Please?

Yesterday, I posted this about the two page memo from Knox County Law Director David Buuck in response to Knox County School Board Member Betsy Henderson and Kristi Kristy‘s letter asking the Knox County Commission for permission to change lawyers in the Federal lawsuit which has the entire school district under a Federal injunctive mask mandate.

Now, I have no loyalties on this issue, I have repeatedly said I am not arguing masks or vaccines. I have had frustrations with Buuck and the School Board, from time to time.

First, on the issue of outside counsel, why can Buuck NOT hire outside counsel, Knox County Sheriff Spanky Spangler has two attorneys in the Sheriff’s Department (Ruble and Nichols) and almost a dozen attorneys in the law directors office, but Knoxville Attorney Gary Prince is close to $200k in the last year as outside counsel over one sheriffs car. (sigh)

Now, on to the School Board and Commission, everyone was an Attorney last night. School Board Member Susan Horn wanting a change of circumstances lawsuit. Commissioner Randy Smith wanting to counter sue the Plaintiffs. While I agree the end should be sooner than later, returning to the starting line and beginning again with a new lawyer seems futile.

Anyway, my role is to give color commentary from over here in the press box…..so there it is.
