Senator Dr. Richard Briggs Presented the 2024 Substance Abuse Advocacy Award

This morning December 5, 2024 the Metro Drug Coalition hosted a Legislative Breakfast. As part of the breakfast, State Senator Dr. Richard Briggs was presented the 2024 John W. Gill, Jr. Substance Abuse Prevention Advocacy Award.

In presenting the award, Karen Pershing said that Sen. Briggs had contacted her and said he really understood the work at The Gateway, Metro Drug Coalition because in his work as a heart surgeon he had replaced heart valves due to chronic users. She sent him material and he studied and used the material in his work in Nashville.
