The elected School Board Members and County Commissioners in Knox County, TN are paid the same salary.

County Commissioners are provided health insurance, School Board Members in Knox County are allowed to purchase health insurance at their own expense (which is very expensive, it was a permissive piece of legislation passed in TN legislature in the early 2000’s)

What I credit School Board with better than County Commission is that the School Board recognize, respect and honor the first amendment and the ability for citizens to speak. School Board does not cut the time for Public Forum from 5 to 3 minutes and limit forum to one hour if a large number of people sign up.

School Board Members have never said, it’s a right not a privilege to speak to us, watch what Commissioners Dailey, Schoonmaker and Jay said here or below five months ago.
