The West Satellite Office that currently houses the Knox County Health Department, the Clerk’s Office, and the Trustee’s Office will soon relocate to a new facility that will provide residents with better parking; more space and efficient services.
The offices, currently located together at Old Cedar Bluff Road, will move to Corporate Square at 9000 Executive Park Drive in mid-May with the plan to officially open May 19.
Officials with the three departments noted in a joint statement: “We will move from a cramped, over-crowded location with very little parking to a more accessible location.”
They added: “This is a great example of different departments – some with elected officials that operate completely different government functions – coming together to create a more inviting place for the public.”
The Clerk’s Office is responsible for renewing tags and driver’s licenses, for example, and the Trustee’s Office oversees tax collections. The Health Department’s clinic offers a range of essential public health services, including immunizations, STI screening and treatment, birth certificates, and cervical cancer screenings, among other services.
The Clerk’s Office and the Trustee’s Office will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Health Department will remain Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with extended hours on Tuesdays until 6 p.m.
In preparation for the move, the current location will close at noon on May 14 through May 16 to allow staff time to transition equipment to the new facility.
