Back on March 12, 2025 I made a mistake, unlike nearly every news writer, blogger, if I mess up, I acknowledge it. It was the day before Knox Planning was set to decide on a sports park, RV park on Asheville Highway on the banks of the Holston River.

On the day in March Knox Planning delayed the item by two months, costing the development thousands of dollars.

Now tomorrow May 8, 2025 Knox Planning will meet to vote on items 40 and 49. At Tuesday’s agenda review meeting Planning Staff announced recommendation of denial of #40 for the rezoning of one piece of the property for lack of a plan. On item #49 the staff recommends approval of a Development Master Plan.

I am confident Planning Commission can look ahead to the plan on #49. But sometimes you just gotta know this is why frustration is demonstrated by applicants that have invested thousands of dollars in developing a plan and having to spend more dollars on a delay. Never mind the amount of dollars to file the plans and wait for the bureaucracy to do what a bureaucracy does.
