This storm truly was unprecedented, and I am inspired by the resolve of my fellow Tennessee Volunteers. I have been on the ground in East Tennessee surveying the damage caused by Hurricane Helene and assisting in relief efforts. Along with the rest of the Tennessee Congressional Delegation, I sent a letter to President Joe Biden demanding he quickly approve Governor Bill Lee‘s request for a major disaster declaration. To ensure that the proper federal resources are provided quickly, I, along with a bipartisan group of my Senate colleagues, wrote a letter urging Congress to return to work immediately to pass disaster relief legislation.
