The Concord Farragut Republican Club held its March meeting last night, featuring insightful presentations from key candidates in the upcoming 2026 Knox County elections, along with warm recognition of longtime club leadership.

With the May 5 Republican primary approaching, the evening highlighted races for Knox County Sheriff and Mayor. Four Republicans are vying for sheriff to succeed term-limited Sheriff Tom Spangler: David Amburn (current KCSO chief of detectives), Jimmy “JJ” Jones (former Knox County Sheriff), Mike Davis, and Brent Gibson.

David Amburn spoke first here but had to depart early for another commitment, limiting his time and preventing him from fielding questions. Jimmy “JJ” Jones then addressed the group here and took several questions from attendees, offering discussion on his vision for the office.

Kim Frazier, Knox County Commission Vice Chair and current At-Large Seat 11 commissioner, also spoke here as a declared Republican candidate for Knox County Mayor. She fielded multiple questions, sharing her priorities for community-focused leadership in the race to replace term-limited Mayor Glenn Jacobs (which also includes commissioners Larsen Jay and school board member Betsy Henderson).

The meeting was led by Vice President Nate Ogle, who stepped up effectively. A special highlight was the attendance of Jeanne Sellars, widow of club co-founder Wayne Sellars. Wayne, a respected community leader and Vietnam veteran, passed away earlier this year on January 3, 2026. Jeanne was warmly welcomed by members, reflecting the club’s enduring appreciation for its founding family.

Before adjourning, longtime member Bill Wanamaker spoke about ongoing legislation in Nashville related to the right to keep and bear arms, as well as citizens’ ability to challenge issues in court when necessary. His remarks underscored important Second Amendment and civic engagement topics relevant to Tennessee conservatives.

Overall, the gathering provided valuable candidate access and community dialogue ahead of a competitive primary season. The club continues to serve as a vital forum for Republican voters in the Farragut and Concord areas.
