More Money! More Money! More Money!
Sources at the Big Metal Shed on the Hill tell me that by the time we celebrate Memorial Day that the cost of the daily paper will increase to a dollar instead of the .75 rack price that has been in existence since the 2008 rate increase. By the way, paid readership today is less than it was in 2008.
It seems that Editor McElroy and Publisher Birmingham have decided to utilize the failed practice and tactics of the public school system. When results and users diminsih, never mind that a change in the leadership of the organization may be or is in order. Instead, just take more money, more money, more money.
In finding the good news. The Sunday paper reportedly will take the Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett approach, no new money! It will remain at $2.
So, either gather yourself up some lose change, a dollar bill or better yet, McElroy would ask you to consider paying with one of these.
The rumor that the increase is in part due to McElroy’s travel expense in driving to Channel 10 every Thursday evening to tape Inside TN could not be confirmed. Additionally the rumor that the increase is due in part to allow the Big Metal Shed on the Hill to advertise on Shock And Awe could not be confirmed as well.
By Fall 2013, reports are that they will take their knoxnews website behind a pay wall. It will become a non relevant news website by the users that utilize it today.
