When Sixteen Applicants Become Three, Time for Governor Bill Lee NOW

On February 15, 2020 I detailed the list of sixteen applicants here for the Court of Appeals in the Eastern District position that is opening with the retirement of Democrat Charles Susano, Jr., was appointed by Democrat TN Governor Ned Ray McWherter in 1994. Susano served as Chairman, Knox County Democratic Party, 1972-74; member, state Democratic Executive Committee, 1974-82;

On Wednesday February 26, 2020 the Governor’s Council for Judicial Appointments met on Monday and Tuesday February 24 and 25 interviewed and considered all 16 applicants.

The council have sent three applicants

Chancellor of the Tenth Judicial District (McMinn County) Jerri S. Bryant

Circuit Court Judge, Division I (for Knox County) Sixth Judicial District Kristi M. Davis

and

Circuit Court Judge for the Third Judicial District Thomas J. Wright to Governor Bill Lee.

Susano’s retirement is effective April 30, 2020.
