Property on Amherst Road has a weekend business called Floyd’s Antiques. It does not appear from Amherst Road that it could have obtained a Certificate of Occupany. So, Knox County Codes was contacted asking for the Certificate of Occupany. The Codes Department said they could not provide a copy of the certificate of occupany, but could provide the file documents. I agreed to that information. A few hours later, I received this message.

I didn’t find any permits for this property so the tenant was notified and will gather the necessary items to apply for an Occupancy Permit. When the application has gone through the plan review process the permit will be issued and the building and fire inspectors will have to approve inspections before the Certificate of Occupancy can be issued. I have sent an email to Mayor Burchett and his Chief of Staff Dean Rice asking for a repsonse to an apparent illegal business being operated by himself or at least an apparent illegal business operating in and on property that he owns in the county that he is Mayor of. Details as they develop.
