Long time KTA (Knoxville Transportation Authority) Board Member Hubert Smith announced his intent/interest in serving as the KTA Board Chairman. Smith is currently serving on the board as an appointee of Mayor Madeline Rogero. He served a previous term several years ago, while also having chaired the previous Citizens Advisory Board.

Mr. Smith is a long term consumer of the KAT Bus. No one serving on the KAT Board is as avid consumer or more aware of the operation of the KAT service than Mr. Smith. Normally when you serve on a board like KAT, people do not volunteer to step up and be the Chair. That honor normally is given to the person that presents the least resistance to serving.

When the nominating committee meets, they should nominate Mr. Smith (who publicly announced his intent at the December 2014 KAT Board meeting, during the business of the meeting, in the “sunshine” of the business of the meeting.)

Smith also is host of two public affairs shows. On Community Television Knoxville, One on One with Hubert Smith that airs at 6:30 p.m. every Friday. On WUTK FM 90.3 The Hubert Smith Radio Show that airs from 10 a.m. to NOON every Sunday.
