So, this morning, the daily paper—affectionately known as #BigMetalShedontheHill—dropped a story at 5 a.m. with a headline that was, frankly, just plain wrong. And I’m not even a journalist. ⤵️

Fast forward about 12 hours, and surprise: the headline quietly changed. No editor’s note, no update disclosure. Just a shiny new version marked as “1 hour ago.” Still locked behind the subscriber paywall, of course. (The screenshot I grabbed was from 5:20 p.m., in case you’re curious.)

Now, they’re also running another piece about a new “companion property” going in next to Marble Alley Lofts, over at State Street and Summit Hill Drive.

Which begs the question—what is with the paper’s obsession with Marble Alley Lofts? It’s like every other week there’s another breathless update. For the record, the property (per KGIS) isn’t even privately owned. It belongs to the Industrial Development Board of Knoxville and Knox County.

Just something to think about next time you consider hitting “subscribe.”
After nearly 20 years, you’ve been my loyal readers—you know this one-man blog inside and out. But do you really know the people behind the scenes at #BigMetalShedontheHill?
