Last Thursday, the Center City Conservatives Republican Club welcomed a familiar face with big ambitions: Knox County School Board Member Betsy Henderson. A two-term former School Board Chair (serving a total of two years in that leadership role), Henderson is now officially in the race for Knox County Mayor as a Republican candidate in the 2026 election.
Speaking to an engaged audience of local conservatives, Henderson shared her priorities for the county, drawing on her extensive experience in education governance and community leadership. Watch it here. Attendees described the talk as candid and solution-focused, with Henderson emphasizing fiscal responsibility, school safety, and smart growth—issues she’s tackled firsthand on the School Board.
But this wasn’t a one-off appearance. Henderson has been steadily building momentum through a grassroots-style campaign. In addition to club speeches like Thursday’s, she’s hosting small-group meet and greets in private homes across Knox County. These intimate settings allow voters to ask tough questions and hear directly from the candidate—no scripts, no filters.
