When politics is talked about, it’s typically referenced to as a pool. Testing the water, Getting into the water. Yada Yada.
There has been much talk about Knox County School Board Chair Betsy Henderson testing the water, exploring the race etc.
Larsen Jay, Knox County Commissioner at Large officially entered the race a couple weeks ago with an official campaign kickoff. Jay has spent 6-12 months raising funds and aligning his chess pieces on the field.
Today, Henderson named a Treasurer. She named Zane Duncan. Duncan a Board Member of the Tennessee Parole Board. He is the youngest son of former Congressman John J. “Jimmy” Duncan, Jr. He and his wife have two sons that are in fact in public education. Henderson and her husband have a son and daughter both in public education.
Now, we wait to see will a third, fourth or more Republican’s get in the May 5, 2026 Primary.
Compass Knox wrote a few days ago of Democrat supporter Phil Lawson putting out a Christmas Wish for former Knox County School Board Chair and Democrat City of Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon to jump in as the Democrat for the August 6, 2026 General Election for Knox County Mayor.
Kincannon was quoted in Compass as being committed to completing her Mayoral term with Knoxville through 2027. In fact, I ran into Mayor Kincannon today (Friday March 28) and she was matter of fact that she is not interested in being Knox County Mayor. Mr. Lawson making his Christmas Wish known at Spring will make him have to search the world over another D to run. Good Luck Mr. Lawson and Knox Democrats, Knox County Mayor is not in your future.
