Last night, the Center City Conservatives Republican Club met and had to move from the normal meeting room to the larger meeting room at Shoney’s on Western Avenue.

Four candidates were featured but many more attended and introduced themselves. The featured candidates get more time. The four candidates last night were Steve Williams, Candidate for Knox County Criminal Court Clerk, Patty Jane Lay, Candidate for Fourth Circuit Court Judge, Bill Ailor, Candidate for Circuit Court Judge Div. III (he is unopposed in the Republican primary) He will face incumbent Democrat Circuit Court Judge Harold Wimberly in August. Jason Hunnicutt, candidate for Knox County Criminal Court Clerk was the fourth featured speaker.

After Hunnicutt spoke, Debbie Stallings asked to speak and she said that she was hired in the Criminal Court Clerks Office by Ms. Martha Phillips and she explained how tedious and time consuming the work of the clerks office is. She stated her own personal opinion that Hunnicutt in part because of his 12 years in the District Attorney Generals office is ready on day one. Hunnicutt faces Steve Williams and County Commissioner at large Mike Hammond. Hammond had a campaign event last night that kept him from attending Center City.
Greg McMillan, candidate for Fourth Circuit Court Judge, Scott Green, candidate for Knox County Criminal Court Judge, Kristi Davis, candidate for Circuit Court Judge, Sherry Witt, Knox County Register of Deeds, State Representative Steve Hall, Billy Stokes, candidate for Circuit Court Judge, Ed Shouse, candidate for Trustee, Martin Daniel, candidate for State Representative, Eddie Smith, candidate for State Representative (challenging democrat Gloria Johnson) Jason Zachary, candidate for U.S. Congress. Hopefully, I didn’t leave anyone out. It was a good meeting.
