CITY OF KNOXVILLE NEIGHBORHOOD RESOURCE FAIR IS AUG. 9

Neighbors can learn about ways to collaborate with local government and nonprofit agencies at the Neighborhood Resource Fair on Saturday, Aug. 9, at the Jacob Building in Chilhowee Park, 401 Lakeside St.

Hosted by the City’s Office of Neighborhood Empowerment, the fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. with door prizes, performances, children’s activities, and more than 90 City and Knox County departments, non-profit organizations, and local services.

“This annual event is a one-stop shop for residents who want to address neighborhood issues, improve their quality of life, help others and enjoy the many benefits of living in Knoxville,” says Neighborhoods Coordinator Debbie Sharp.

Admission is free. Attendees who register by Tuesday, Aug. 5, will receive tickets for hourly door prize drawings and food vouchers redeemable at the concession stand. Door prizes include tickets to Knoxville Smokies baseball games.

City departments set to attend: Parks and Recreation, Office of Sustainability, Vision Zero, Empower Knox, Codes Enforcement, Plans Review and Inspections, Waste and Resources Management, and Office of Community Safety and Empowerment. Come see me at the Knox County Trustee Office booth.

Community groups currently registered to attend include Bridge Refugee Services, Centro Hispano, Girl Talk Inc., Goodwill Industries, Kickstand, Knox County Master Gardeners, Knox Heritage, League of Women Voters and Roane State Community College. Karate Five, RYDE Dance, Drums Up Guns Down, and Urban Expressions will perform or provide demonstrations.
