The Concord Farragut Republican Club hosted what appears to be the first opportunity for voters to hear directly from the candidates seeking to become the next Mayor of the Town of Farragut.
The evening featured Alderman Alex Cain and former Alderwoman Louise Povlin, who each received approximately 10 to 12 minutes to present their vision, priorities, and qualifications for leading Farragut. Both candidates spoke about their experience, their perspectives on the future of the town, and why they believe they are the best choice to serve as mayor..

Following the individual presentations, the candidates participated in a question-and-answer session driven by the audience. Six questions were asked by those in attendance, giving voters an opportunity to hear each candidate address many of the issues important to Farragut residents.
The format allowed those attending to compare the candidates side-by-side in a respectful and informative setting. Rather than campaign commercials or mail pieces, those present were able to hear directly from each candidate and evaluate their answers on the same questions.
Transparency and voter education remain essential to the election process. To help inform those who were unable to attend, each candidate’s individual presentation was recorded, Alderman Cain HERE and former Alderwoman Povlin HERE. In addition, the complete audience question-and-answer session was also recorded and is located HERE.
These videos will allow every voter the opportunity to hear the candidates in their own words before casting a ballot.
Thank you to the Concord Farragut Republican Club for providing a forum focused on informing voters and encouraging civic engagement. Opportunities like these strengthen our communities by giving citizens direct access to the candidates seeking public office.
