Democrat Brian Stevens announced today that he will not challenge State Senator Stacey Campfield in 2014. He went on to endorse County Commissioner Dr. Richard Briggs. Briggs is a Republican and Senator Campfield is a Republican.

Why would a Democrat scare out and not want to stay in and challenge Campfield should he defeat all his Republican primary opponents. Granted Dr. Briggs would like to take on Campfield one on one. That will NOT happen without Briggs either personally or with intermediaries acting on his behalf to get candidates out. I am hearing of at least 3 other candidates in that State Senate race that are bonafide Republicans.
