BrianHornback.com was the first to detail or report on write-in votes during elections. After the Knox County Election Officials put pen and paper in everyone’s hands, I stopped. After the Compass guys and gals made a reference to them, following the August 6 election, I asked for the file and downloaded the images on my own drive, maybe when I am bored, I will entertain you with some.

Let us cover a couple of quick finds…

County Commission District Three flipped to the Democrats on August 6, because on May 5, 11 more Republicans chose Sherri Super-Niezgoda over County Commissioner and Commission Chair Gina Oster. Well, Democrat County Commissioner-Elect Brandon Huckaby bested Super-Niezgoda by 810 votes on August 6. There were 53 votes written and rejected for Commissioner Third District, except for 11 of them, 42 were for Gina Oster or some form of Oster, Gina Oster et all.

In County Mayor‘s race there were 307 write=in votes at my review of the 24 pages, it appears Larsen Jay obtained 107 write -in votes to Kim Frazier‘s 44, Gina Oster got 2, Terry Hill and Dolly Parton each got one. Of course Conservative Republican Betsy Henderson won over Democrat Socialist Beau Hawk.

In County Trustee race, TRUSTEE Justin Biggs dominated with a majority of the 82 write-ins, other write-ins included Jesus, Scott Jones, Not Nick McBride, Heath Shuler and Lavender Marriage.

In Board of Education District 9, 19 Votes were cast and rejected, 10 of the 19 were for School Board Member and current Chair of the Board Kristi Kristy who lost the May 5 Republican Primary to Bill Sofield by 65 of the 3,989 votes cast on May 5. On August 6, Sofield lost to Democrat Brandy Jenkins by 334 votes of the 8,506 votes cast on August 6.
